While I did fall asleep a few times during this I did enjoy it for what it was. The backstory at the start helped with everything BUT I do think the movie took a bit too long to get going. Definitely funny which was good even if I wasn’t a big fan of the main villain. Everything with the family and group home was well done, just a bit predictable and formulaic. Overall I can’t complain too much as this was a pretty quick two hour movie and was a nice change of pace from other superhero movies!
Austin Butler won’t be forgotten anytime soon. I was tempted to give a higher rating just for his performance. Without him, this movie would be nothing. I just feel like it was WAY too long and the pacing felt so odd. Things moved very quickly and some scenes dragged too long when they didn’t need to. It’s hard to explain. Two of my friends said this is in their top 5 movies of all time but I just can’t see it. Some good stuff in here but nothing epic that made me think WOW this is an all timer.
Listen, the acting is HORRIBLE and that doesn’t go unnoticed. There was a good underlying story here and I think the final battle was great. This isn’t anything that’ll be remembered as the best, but it served a purpose and is totally passable. You know what you’re getting, and it’s exactly that. Go in with an open mind and you’ll enjoy it. It’s lesa than an hour, so you know I’ll never complain about that!
I feel like I’ll have to rewatch this one day. Maybe didn’t give it my full attention but I still enjoyed it! I haven’t watched a movie in awhile but this felt.. long. CRAZY to say that as it’s only an hour and a half! Sticks to the TMNT formula which is great, obviously broke outside it for the villains and other little plot points. April throwing up while on camera was good continuity and this definitely had the humor of past films. Not the best but still pretty good!
