The French Dispatch 2021
It wouldn’t be fair to give this a star rating, since I couldn’t make myself watch more than half the movie. It’s been so sad watching Anderson’s path from greatness (“The Royal Tenenbaums” & “The Darjeeling Limited”) to these cutesy, masturbatory, intricate art-objects that he’s been making for the past decade.
Maybe the second half of this movie redeems the first, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more convincing “The emperor has no clothes” argument than “The French Dispatch.”
