I could not understand this film when I watched it. As I was thinking about it over the next several days, I came across a review that perfectly captured its essence in three words: "raw human emotion." That's exactly what this movie represents. The film is a complex melody, sung in three independent voices, which are extremely harmonious at times... but severely dissonant at others. Showing the independence of people, and how each character's choices and, ultimately, distinct goals, combine with human emotion, from ambition to stupidity, to give life to one of the best films I've seen in a while.
