Emma Thompson's Last Christmas simply by virtue of being a Christmas Roncom set in London invites inevitable comparisons to Love Actually. Sadly it's not quite as good. That's not to say it was a bad film and it certainly has some of Richard Curtis's magic in the dialogue and the astetic. This was helped in part by a healthy amount of swearing done brilliantly by the cast.

When I finished this film there was a definite sense of 'is that it?' The film ends in such a random spot after a fight between Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalomet) and some nameless character. The film's marketing (while effective at getting people to see the film) was definitely disingenuous.
