The first half was pretty great. And Earl was great, even tough I don't even know who is Earl nor anyone besides Greg, for that matter. But then, the girl just died.
Since I'm portuguese and I study in Lisbon, I had to go watch it.
I haven't read the novel, so I didn't know what to expect, at all. What amazed me most was the beautiful shots from Lisbon, as I walk by those places many times and I love them, I really enjoyed seeing them portrayed in a movie.
As I'm portuguese I know the context of the "Revolução dos Cravos" and actually enjoyed the plot in general, felt rushed…
Being my second Melville film, it got my attention due to the WWII theme and since it has a place in Ebert's Great Movies list, I decided to pick it up to the first round of the Season Challenge.
