Absolute cinema - this one of my favorite movies so
rather than leaving a review, I’ll leave some general thoughts.
The special effects hold up remarkably well. The opening chase scene between the Tantive IV and the Star Destroyer is top notch, as are the Mos Eisley and Death Star attack sequences.
I don’t necessarily view George Lucas as a cinematic genius, but the scene in Kenobii’s hut where Obi-Wan recounts the Clone Wars to Luke does show that George…
The banality of Sharia.
This film is an incredibly rare gem. It is equal parts timely, beautifully shot, politically poignant, and emotionally moving. Timbuktu is often times used as a placeholder for a place far away, and little known. This film sheds light on a part of the world that is often neglected by western media and tells the story of those that lived under the specter of extremism.
This movie is surprisingly good!!! The special effects hold up and the cinematography is a cut above what it should be for a film like this. It is bizarrely fast paced for a film from the 50’s and in some ways it is very similar War of the Worlds. Watching this, I can absolutely see how this film inspired Spielberg
Sometimes, when you watch a film, you immediately understand why it has become so famous. The Passion of Jeanne d’Arc is one of those films.
The close-ups of actresses Renée Jeanne Falconetti are timeless. Despite the silent nature of the film, her facial expressions convey so much emotion. The use of WWI British helmets for the English guards is a nice touch, and the film has very little in terms of props that can date it to the medieval era.…
