Young Guns II 1990
Five stars! No notes! Like "Better Off Dead," my lifelong best friend and I probably know every line of dialogue from this movie and could perform it impromptu on demand when we were kids. Best cast ever! Best score ever! Best movie ever! Or so I told myself when I was 11. I still love it. The performances, editing pace, and the sheer number of memorable lines. Kicks the original in the balls hard. Did I mention the soundtrack? Long live "Blaze of Glory!"

The Underneath 1995
Had this on LaserDisc when it first came out. Soderbergh hates this movie, but I fucking love it! Because I loved it as a teenager, I really have no objectivity here. I love the cast (Alison Elliott, Willam Fichtner, Elisabeth Shue, Joe Don Baker), I love the score, I love the cinematography, the editing. Great movie. Best role Peter Gallagher ever had. 'Nuff said.

A Scanner Darkly 2006
Like "Inherent Vice," this is one of the very best adaptations I've ever seen. I've read just about everything Philip K. Dick has written and I was blown away by Linklater's respect for the source material and his conviction. He is the ONLY filmmaker who has ever captured Dick's voice and got across what reading one of his novels is like. I've seen this many times since it played in theaters. It's visually stunning, hilarious, harrowing, and sad. A masterpiece.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Brando killing Harry Dean is the most slasher movie kill ever, only better. Brutal! Enjoyed this one. It's a strange brew of grounded, naturalistic western with some bursts of Brando insanity that keep the tension alive. I don't know if it's entirely successful but Jack is the GOAT and I can't say I didn't thoroughly enjoy watching this.
