« I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. You hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. »

Maybe I was expecting more… I don’t know, I’ve heard so much about this movie, but there’s nothing truly special about it. It’s good, but in a fairly standard way. So yes, I guess I was hoping for something more.

« I feel terrible, like there's a weight on my chest.
    A heart's a heavy burden. »

Fourth rewatch but first time in a theater. 💃🏻 The big screen made the experience even more magical.

What I love about this movie is that no matter how many times I watch it, I always notice something new. There are hidden little details in the background, subtle expressions, or a line of dialogue that takes on a new meaning. Miyazaki puts so…

« Don't you ever feel like... you've just done a whole amazing day and then you come home and feel tired and down and... it feels like your organs don't work, they're just tired, and everything is tired. Like you're sinking. I don't know, it's weird. »

This movie is so unique and special. It shows that simplicity doesn't prevent a story from being strong and emotional. Rewatching it allowed me to notice the little details I missed the first time. Aftersun is one of those movies that I think about daily and that makes me reflect a lot. I love everything about it.
