This movie stayed with me long after watching. Matthew McConaughey truly gave an amazing and layered performance of a man struggling with his own wants and place in the world and wanting something more for his children. Such a beautiful concept with gorgeous visuals. I really loved the film but it slightly fell apart in the third act. Still, it’s a must watch.

This is definitely not a perfect film but it has enough heart and two stellar performances from Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman to make it a worthwhile watch. Their chemistry is definitely what makes the film work. I was enjoying myself until that scene toward the end with Morgan Freeman where I actually laughed out loud (it wasn’t supposed to be funny, I actually think it was supposed to very serious). The film does best when it doesn’t take itself…

I really wanted to like this. I just finished the book so it’s fresh in my mind and I keep wondering if I’d like this more if I hadn’t read the book first, and I don’t think so.
Elle Fanning and Justice Smith were both pretty good (it did take me some time to get used to Finch not looking how he was described but whatever), but I feel like the film was just overall so rushed that it didn’t…
