What an atrocious start. I guess the PRC liked it enough to inject the end of this movie with unlimited resources!
Through sheer runtime, we’re forced to form a connection with these characters as they’re shoved in our face. I’m presuming that the general Chinese public had a better understanding of this mythos prior to viewing than I did, so maybe the breakneck speed of the intro wouldn’t have been much of an issue for that audience.
