Some pacing issues, but outside of that, an incredibly beautiful film about suddenly being thrust into fatherhood. The Samurai action is cool and heroic, but the most touching scenes are mundane moments between Zatoichi and the child he's sworn to protect.

Ultimately a film about love in all its forms, rational and irrational. A showcase of the myriad of ways this can manifest into someones life. Midsommar 2019
Pass on this one. Typically, I’m a fan of slower paced films, but this euro-folk drama drags itself out with its pageantry. Characters feel like a thin facsimile of actual people, with unrealatable and even downright hateable personalities. Despite this, the payoff at the end of the film was downright disappointing.
That said, it’s beautifully shot. Technically wonderfully. Filled to the rim with state of the art practical effects and camera trickery. To what end though?

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 2004
An all-time favorite. Wonderful use of composition, color. Bill Murray’s poetic portrayal of an aging adventurer has stuck with me for years.
