A beautiful tale of family and the complications found within the relationship you have with loved ones. I could relate so much to both Benji and David in their different struggles within the dynamic. Wrestling with your own existence while also desperately trying to keep the people you love here through fear of losing them for your own selfish reasons. Beautifully shot and a real testament to how film is the superior medium. Excellent performances by both leads as well as the accompanying cast.

The lighting was a real highlight for me here. So many scenes were enhanced with grading choices and choice of lighting, showing just how important it is. Excellent cinematography which expected of an Eggers flick. The storyline didn’t go where I expected beforehand in ways and I’m happy it didn’t. Very pleased with this overall. I wouldn’t classify it necessarily as horror albeit I think everyone’s opinion of horror is subjective. Either way I’d recommend it!

There’s surely elements of this you could pick holes in. Chalamet’s English accent falters a good few times. Pattinson’s French/English accent like something from Monty Python. The historical inaccuracies and liberties taken. However, it ultimate is just a very good watch. Great drama, well put together and fleshed out. Joel Edgerton is excellent (as he usually is).

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of Banshees. The dialogue, the setting, composition, cinematography, score. The relationship between characters. Such an utterly sad tale but executed perfectly. From moment one I was gripped. Must watch
