Reminded me that Q Tip did a song twenty years ago with Chemical Brothers. Person next to me got motion sickness during the action sequences. The film DOES feature “Live and Learn” but does not have “City Escape.” Overall not an unpleasant experience.

Awful! Though I do like how the waimai drivers hustle the algorithm like they’re in a Scorsese montage, the kind where someone gleefully explains how a con works. These are interesting in that they are largely taking content already made by gig worker influencers and adapting it to film. Everything else is garbage, and it would be an evil film if it actually managed to manipulate you into believing the fantasy. It can’t even do that, though it is actually elevated somewhat in its failure, making it an important document of how Chinese media has responded to waimai activism and self-publishing.

A great first act, ruined when it’s revealed that this character isn’t a tortured soul or intellectually disabled, but is instead just a misogynist creep. This is the most depraved bait and switch I’ve seen in a long time.
