    A silly popcorn movie that's good at what it's set out to do.

    I really appreciate that this movie seems to have become a blueprint for bringing different perspectives to Hollywood productions and showing that diversity can be profitable. It certainly bodes better than that period in the early to mid 2000's where every single 'Comedy' in the U.S was directed or written by Adam Sandler, or one of his friends, which inevitably included extremely misogynistic ideas and jokes that…

    One of the most cohesively beautiful movies I've seen. Aesthetically brilliant. Naratively golden. Earnest, spiritual, meaningful. Like the moon, rather than the jewel that shines on the dragon's neck.

    Very allegorical, surreal, but somewhat difficult for me personally to emotionally engage with, which isn't a bad thing. I think most other Ghibli movies, while clearly made from very personal places, are more eager to please. This movie clearly does not care to make things digestible, easy, or readily enjoyable, which I respect.
