  kept me thinking about how susceptible many are to succumb to their personal grievances, pent up anger, and repressed frustrations. without a collective-minded society, how likely individual passivity can become a breeding ground for the unspoken desires of retribution. really lingered unsettlingly and had me reflecting internally and externally about our deepest bitterness and resentments crawling to be seen

  who’s the target audience for this???? no way this is for wlw?? harper is so manipulative and gaslit her girlfriend into a traumatic experience. no one should sympathize with her or make excuses for her behavior.

  aside from this atrocious storyline, i’m so tired of people of color being cast in overwhelmingly white films as filler/props for the storyline. 

  clea duvall created this film for toxic white lesbians and maybe I just can’t relate!

  despite the horrible mimicry of a brooklyn accent, extremely one-dimensional characterization of our sex worker protagonist, and inconsistent and overall bad dialogue, I will admit I enjoyed the watch and did not get bored until towards the end. but i’m still conflicted because sean baker sure loves making films ‘humanizing’ poor people despite being an ignorant upper middle class white boy from jersey 

  this did scream “I went to nyu tisch!!!” to me so not surprised this was overwhelmingly well received in a crowd of non-new yorkers
