According to my Letterboxd diary, I re-watched this first on a Bluray in April 2015. I think the disc must have been borrowed, as I rarely get rid of any of them, although my old DVD's do sometimes end up in a charity shop. Anyway, I still stand by what I said in my review back then.

Oh dear! A potentially excellent film with rather too many flaws. The message was clear enough: give a deaf child sufficient support, early enough, and they will do so much better at school and blossom into their true selves.Maisie Sly, herself deaf, was excellent as the mischievous and enchanting child.
