The laughs are never as big, but there are a lot more attempts at them than Longlegs. Comedy with a noticeable elbow in the ribs. The bag of cherries was my personal favorite gross out bit of gore for a laugh.

Snack Shack 2024
Every time this movie gets, “straight cringe” it backs off and gets funny, surprisingly so. It doesn’t get the details right - but when it’s in its tonal groove for the first 2/3 of the film it’s great. The two leads are excellent, the rest of the cast is good being funny or sober. The movie over reaches piling on the sentiment though the cast all give it the hard sell but it doesn’t add much other than providing a convenient coming of age moment and poignant wrap up.

Barring a few music cues this film luxuriates in static frames and inactive characters. The amount of time spent with characters sitting nervously or laying on couches in literal bedrest is not to be underestimated.
