    an EXTREMELY unique, cool movie

an edge of your seat thriller powered by great writing and an excellent, criminally underrated performance by jake gyllenhaal. the camera does not pan away from him for the entire movie, using only two set locations and bringing in other critical characters through nothing but intense, heart racing phone calls. the depths of these characters was definitely felt, and was done in such a unique and different way. just a really cool, different-in-a-good-way movie where…

i think this is one of those movies that 10 years from now it will be viewed as an unquestionable masterpiece. when a whole new generation watches this for the first time, without any ads or trailers that gave way to preemptive assumptions on what to expect, they’ll be able to get a full uninhibited view of the movie. Scorsese explores a bunch of moral themes, most notably the feeling of helplessness, brotherhood, redemption, family, and respect. the final half hour is one of the saddest stretches i’ve ever seen in any movie. timeless classic

unironically a very funny, well written movie

the story is intriguing, the movie looks cool, and the characters are really fun to follow — especially the bear who did all the cocaine
