  I find war-action films always tread a fine line. On the surface they decry the horror of war, but they also want to exploit that same horror for *excitement* and *spectacle*. For me, 1917 fell too far over that line. The instinct for the single take left me breathless for the first 40 mins. The unbroken action gives the viewer no respite.
