Admittedly did not understand what I was walking into when I saw this, but what a fun one! A French musical with tons of beautiful color and cute songs. There’s a lot of humor in it, particularly when viewed with a modern lens. I loved the ending, a departure from what I expected but precisely what the film called for. The main characters falling in love was tender, and I loved the complicated dynamic between the mother and daughter. I’ll watch this again.

This was really fun. The sets, costuming, choreography, and music were stellar. Not saying anything revolutionary, but Cynthia Erivo is a phenomenal talent. Loved hearing her sing. There were a few moments where the film dragged. Though I appreciated the inclusion of Chenoweth and Menzel, I thought their song was unrelated to the larger plot. Wish they had been included in a more clever or meaningful way. Loved the goat professor voiced by Dinklage - think he’s accepting students to audit a course or two?

A wild and disconnected ride through a magical island in search of treasure featuring an improbable romance between Bullock and Tatum. It was funny (genuinely and unintentionally). The production value was insane - like are we really blowing up multiple modes of transportation while a private jet sails overhead? Ok Hollywood, go off.

Cameos from stars kept coming: Bowen Yang, Brad Pitt. I’m not mad at it but should you watch this? No, no you should not.

A solid watch and one I’d recommend. I loved observing Didi gain confidence and get to know himself better through film and skateboarding. The film did a great job of capturing highly specific 2008 memories, like scrolling through a MySpace Top 8 while Paramore plays. Watching the kids in the film realize their mother’s full humanity was very tender.
