  Saw on IMAX, which didn’t feel particularly dazzling. Fun watch overall, but it just felt like Starship Troopers for the Trump era. It had great sets, really impressive sound mix, and (some) solid performances but didn’t feel like it was doing anything new; much like Mickey this concept has been chewed up and spit out over and over again, and I didn’t feel this version was saying anything we haven’t heard before. Definitely entertaining though, had consistent laughs and Rpat was great throughout.

  Very Eggers. Was feeling iffy about it until Dafoe showed up, then I was locked in. The cinematography was great during some scenes, but felt a bit gimmicky in others. Really good production design, especially with the professors house, the Solmonar seals / writings, and the sailing sequence, and Eggers’s exteriors are ofc chefs kiss. Hoping it wins something at the Oscars, but honestly would be a bit surprised if it did.
