Crazy, Stupid, Love. 2011
This movie helped me figure out a term for a phenomenon I've noticed in a lot of movies, and especially in movies of this era- when a cast stacked with charismatic actors elevate an absolute dogshit script into watchability.
It's called Castlighting- when the cast of a movie is so good, it gaslights you into thinking the movie is ok. Surely a movie with Steve Carrell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei, and Kevin Bacon can't be bad, right? Well, it can. Just not THAT bad.
