My feelings on this one are complicated. I think there’s quite a lot to appreciate about this movie, though I can’t help but feel emotionally distanced from the story’s outcome.
The inherent mystery of this family drama is unraveled by oscillating scenes between the twins’ present-day efforts to uncover their mother’s past, and flashbacks of their mother’s life until the time of her death. Quite disappointing - this is my least favorite of the BJH movies I’ve seen. Felt tonally muddled throughout, and at least for me the jokes didn’t land while the ‘serious’ bits didn’t stick. They toyed with some fun sci-fi and political motifs but was too timid to really make a statement.
Certainly not a bad movie but I wouldn’t recommend it.
