Civilization stuck in the cycle of the powerful being corrupted by greed and the oppressed to rise up and take control just for a new oppressor to take their place. An endless pattern of rapacity and violence that defines humanity. But can love and hope prevail? Can we make a better future where all are actually treated equal, a “utopia” filled with care and empathy? Megalopolis is an amalgamation of many of these ideas and more that I can’t fully grasp, one of the finest films of the decade so far.
