Didn't know porn could make me cry. Saw this at the Music Box in a sold out showing.
I expected way too much, but I expect my rating to go up when I'm not half asleep during this.
Nasty, gory, and every bit as terrifying and mind-bending as the first film. However, the "twisty" ending falls flat by being incredibly obvious from the jump. Everything that takes us to that ending is absolutely worth the thrilling ride, though.
Naomi Scott will probably not get an Oscar nomination for this, but so many horror fans' fake Oscars will have her as a nominee, and she deserves at LEAST that.
Aesthetically this is fantastic. My favorite things are when the night/darkness scenes are in black and white, and the little flashes of color during those scenes makes it even more fun and cool.
This film is brutal in several moments and is largely upsetting in its overall implications. There's not much good that really happens in this. I expected it to be bleak, but somehow I feel like watching The Witch would be an easier rewatch than this. That's not…
