There’s a lot to like here. Epic world building, a compelling origin story for a kick ass character, an amazing score from Junkie Xl…
… But all I really want to talk about is Chris Hemsworth because holy shit, it’s the most fun i’ve ever seen someone have acting. Dude chews up scenery like he’s running a Red Lobster out of business. Get this man an Oscar, or at least a SAG award.
This movie was better than it had any right to be. Lots of fun world building, surprisingly fun characters, and though many of the beats are familiar this movie hit them so well I didn’t even care.
The financials are in and [Monkey] Business is booming.
In a year dominated by “making of bio-dramas” leave it to Apple to have produced the best one you’ve never heard of.
And I know that “It’s about the race to license Tetris” is not a particularly exciting pitch for a movie. Yet Tetris somehow has everything you want in a film; heart, humor, excitement, and Taron Edgerton rocking a mustache.
Give this one a shot, you won’t regret it.
Die Hard 3 is where the series picks up again, in large part thanks to the return of original director John McTiernan. And while it’s got the familiar humor and tone of the much beloved original, it’s also not afraid to be its own movie (looking at you Die Hard 2 -_- )
If you like Die Hard, delightfully arch bad guys, and Samuel L Jackson, this is the movie for you.
