Luca Guadanino + Zendaya + Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross is a combination that I'd like to see a lot more often. Despite not ever having an interest in sports, tennis is what makes Challengers so enthralling for me to watch... although Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O'Connor definitely help though as well. Performances across the board are fantastic, with each actor truly immersing themselves into their characters, especially Zendaya and O'Connor playing off each other quite well with excellent…

The Substance is one hell of a drug... literally. Despite seeing the trailer, I didn't exactly know what to expect with this movie. Fantastic performances from both Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley? Well duh. But besides the obvious, The Substance always had me on the edge of my seat. A masterpiece in storytelling. Yorgos Lanthimos has never disappointed me before, and he continues to do so, raising the bar to what may never be topped. Following the story of Bella Baxter and her journey of discovery and liberation, Poor Things never has a dull moment. Filled with gorgeous and over the top sets and scenery that look surrealistic like a Salvadore Dali painting, eerie and quirky music, many hilarious jokes, and a tour-de-force performance from Emma Stone, Poor Things is easily one of the most artistic movies in years and easily the best of 2023.

Finally a new and original horror movie that's actually scary. Set in Australia, Talk to Me feels new and original in a world full of horror that's just blood and guts, and while it does have some of that, more importantly, it has suspense and actual scares. The cast delivers excellent performances and believable terror as the plot features a gripping story with practical effects, which are only enhanced by the big screen.
