The End of the Tour 2015
as a huge fan of David Foster Wallace this one’s really weird for me. it is so cool to see him on screen like this, and objectively Jason Segel does a great job. but as anyone who knows DFW would say he would not have wanted this made, and you can’t shake that feeling the whole time. ultimately i think it does the best it can. and it serves as great propaganda for Infinite Jest, which i can’t complain about.

I don’t have very much to say about this movie. Something like this is not explored often in movies, but I think it’s important to see: that contrast between the modern borderline nihilistic view of events as random chance against the ancient view of fate, far more romantic but in a world like this one who can bring themselves to believe in it? To me, it’s not so much that everything works itself out but that we work ourselves out…
