GoodFellas 1990
From that first freeze frame and needle drop at the end of Ray Liotta’s opening narration all the way to that final look in the camera, everything about GoodFellas is undeniably iconic. The way Martin Scorsese immerses the audience in the rise and fall of Henry Hill is increasingly both enthralling and distressing. While the film follows Hill and is told mostly from his perspective, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro each masterfully play two sides of the gangster archetype…

Jurassic Park 1993
I think if there's one film I could go back and watch for the first time, it would be this one. Despite seeing this film many times over the years, the unassailable tension found in Jurassic Park remains as strong and enjoyable as ever. From the first frames of this film Steven Spielberg imparts an unease as though the viewer themselves are being watched, and within minutes the sensation of being hunted is terrifyingly introduced. Following an emphatic opening, things…

Novocaine 2025
Honestly much better than I was expecting from the trailer that I’d seen 1 million times (they cut the Wolverine line tho?? I kept waiting for that). Really just Jack Quaid being pretty damn good once again, I don’t really understand people saying he’s always doing the same thing as this was definitely something different than Companion and even The Boys. About all I got but a decent enough action flick that makes the most of its premise!

My Cousin Vinny 1992
This was a pretty breezy watch thanks to a magnetic Joe Pesci performance and perhaps an even more electric Marissa Tomei (she just slays everything). Not too much going on here really but there are some solid arcs and satisfying payoffs for a comedy.
Idk if I’ve ever seen anybody that looks like that judge tbh he’s a funky lookin dude.

Nosferatu 2024
yea absolutely nobody matching this movie’s freak lmao. Freaky in multitudes, one might say.
Insane cinematography and an unflinching cultivation of atmosphere from Eggers culminates in horrifying and disturbingly alluring drama, all sold to hell and back by Lily Rose-Depp. This watch highlighted just how incredible Eggers’ direction is, as the camerawork seamlessly blends tragedy and fate as continuous and broken shots weave together to tell this haunting tale. A deeply unsettling work that pulls what it needs to from…

Dune: Part Two 2024
I started my Dune: Part 1 review by saying “This might not exactly be the Dune I had envisioned, but I think I still love it nonetheless.” Now, I can confidently say that although this is still not quite the Dune that I envisioned, I emphatically love both of these films and what they do for the world of Dune.
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part 2 is, to put it simply, an absolute spectacle to behold. It is likely the film…
