  I feel conflicted about the changes they made because I think they worked in some ways and didn’t in others, and overall I feel like the emotional punch of the musical is stronger than the movie. Still, if I didn’t have the original musical to compare to, I wonder if I would have as many hesitations about the movie as I do. Even with those hesitations, I had a good time watching this movie, which understands how to make a fun and entertaining movie adaptation of a musical.
