    Finally got to show this to my girlfriend. She loved it and thank god she didnt see the twist coming. She GASPED.

    This has one of the best twists and best executions of a twist I’ve ever seen. It’s got the trademark sound design and cinematography that only Villeneuve can do (cue big dumb object in the sky, you can feel the precursor to his Dune designs). One of my favorite first contact stories, and also a banger alien design…

    The current time is 4:10 am. I can’t sleep. This didn’t help.

    This is hard to rate because it’s barely a movie. It’s chaotic and written more like an SNL skit than a movie. The story is one for children, but most of the humor is definitely not. There’s a lot of almost-swears, ball jokes, and my personal favorite.

    This had a lot more going on than the blunt expendable metaphor i was expecting! Pattinson did an amazing job acting 17 and 18 differently, both vocally and physically. Ruffalo did a great job as a religious sex-purist would-be despot. Toni Collette serves as always. Naomi was great. 

    Maybe had too many different ideas brewing for a single movie—i actually think this would’ve done better as a limited series. That or get rid of the weird love triangle to tighten…
