The Banshees of Inisherin 2022
Usually, movies that let metaphors or messages be the guiding light of the story bother me. However, the cohesive sympathy these characters inspire throughout the film is the real plot. This sympathy is hard earned by the four scenarios that represent stimulants and reactions; numbness and inaction (Colin Farrell), numbness and conflict (Brendan Gleeson), dissatisfaction and conflict (Kerry Condon) and dissatisfaction and inaction (Barry Keoghan). Instead of picking what's right or what is fair, Banshees showcases the kindness, and sometimes lifelines, each person can expose to their world, regardless of where they are or where they would like to stand.
