  Truly one of the finest films I’ve seen all year.  The backdrop of post-war Japan is brilliantly done, masterfully capturing mood of desperation of a defeated nation and its suffering people.  The film takes a novel approach, by delving into complicated inner turmoil and feelings guilt engulfing a failed kamikaze pilot, whose will to survive the war and move forward with life are woven intricately into to the plot of the movie.   The special effects, cinematography and script all exceed anything I’ve seen all year.   Strongly recommend it and brace your self for an emotional ride, with the most gratifying outcome.
