it’s DEFINITELY better than what i expected having heard so many awful things. if there were some tweaks, especially in:
1. the god awful songs
2. the frankly less than impressive selena gomez participation
3. the fact that its a mexican movie directed by french people
4. the scenery, color adjustments and general camera angles
it would be a good movie. it had the potential for it. the script was not bad at all, and it was surprising and full…
honestly it was very much okay. if i could give this 3.75 stars, i would, but i’d say it’s closer to 4 than 3.5. the thing about this movie is that it’s BEAUTIFULLY MADE, the actors are EXCELLENT and the cinematography of it.. breathless. the stark contrast of colors, the beautiful rooms and the camera placements, wow. every scene in Casa Santa Maria left me entranced with the vatican!!
however, the plot was so basic i guessed it 20 minutes…
this was so beautiful. small human interactions can mean so much. a heart can carry so much joy and so much loneliness. thank you for making this.
what a beautiful yet simple movie. its slow-moving, romantic (but limited!) dialogue and beautiful scenery really made the whole experience very intimate. it was great to see the wonders of french cuisine, unfiltered, through the 1880s (i think). it made me think of anthony bourdain’s understanding of food, and i think i finally relate to his words. this is what food is about!!!
also i would pay SO MUCH MONEY to eat everything they cooked 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
