Honestly I have a decent amount of fun with these movies.

Venom 2 is sort of a breakup movie and they play into it a lot. Tom Hardy has fun. Woody Harrelson has fun.

I like when superhero movies kind of intentionally suck a bit.

I used to see this advertised and I always heard good things but I avoided it for so long. Who knows why.

But I had a blast with this movie. It puts a fun spin on things that I can imagine would have been even more fun in 2010 on release.

If you watch this now in the current climate of movies you might feel like it’s old hat. And maybe it is. But I feel like this would have been such a fun night at the local multiplex when this was released.

    A classic slasher comedy combo.

A few raindrops splashing against a puddle.
    Then.
The rain is coming down leaving countless ripples in a pond.
How do you stop the rain? How do you do anything once it’s started?

Oppenheimer is better the second time. And I suspect it won’t become worse for a few more watches after that.

Focusing more on visuals and audio in the rewatch I was blown away by just how gorgeous this movie is. Edited to perfection, Jennifer Lame deserves all…

Gosh if we aren’t a bunch of vindictive lil bastards aint we?

There is a mania in Oppenheimer driven by the pursuit of something above ourselves. In order to peel back behind the curtain you have to accept that you might not like what you see.

Everyone in this movie is so perfectly flawed. There are no heroes. Only people. Flawed and embittered and passionate and misguided.

We want something beyond ourselves. A fight for nobility. Or knowledge. Or power.…
