Not as impactful as Nosferatu but still incredible filmmaking.

Last scene: while listening to Nina Simone‘s „Feeling Good“ on his car‘s cassette deck player, Hirayama‘s (Koji Yakusho) face is held in a long and poignant closing shot where his expression vividly alternates between smiles and tears - pain and happiness - sadness and joy. The viewer is left to ponder if Hirayama‘s life choices have left him feeling regretful or grateful- or both.
