First time on the big screen and I still regard this as Lynch's crowning achievement. There are fewer questions left unanswered than in Mulholland Dr. or Twin Peaks but that doesn't make it any less rich to revisit.

Yeah sure, it's impressive to an extent. I don't know the source material but I wouldn't be surprised if Part II turned out to be an improvement over this one. At the very least it'd probably clear up how I'm supposed to be feeling about the 150 minutes I just saw. Now it just seemed like half a story about a noble bloodline selectively breeding a perfect white savior to lead indigenous people and teach them how to manage their own planet. Maaaaaybe not the best premise but we'll see.
