One of the more fun movies I’ve seen. Is it perfect? Far from it, but it’s decently shot, well acted and it had Ron Perlman! I wasn’t going in expecting any kind of profound message or even a fully competent film with this being del toro’s first but I wasn’t pleasantly surprised by an engaging story and a good time. Absolutely beautiful use of rain during some scenes, great nostalgic practical effects and lots and lots of freaky blood licking!
