overall, it's a pretty average movie but it resonated with me more than most anime films do.
The art is pleasing, especially the colour schemes and lighting (the backgrounds are especially stunning), the music is good and the characters are sweet. It's a heartwarming short story between a complicated couple who can't understand or communicate with each other very well, but that clumsiness is wholesome to watch.

my mom called me into the living room to watch a movie and I really thought it couldn't be all that bad. walk in and see Awkwafina and just instantly regret coming down. but as a good daughter, I'm not gonna walk out on our bonding time. instead I'll just complain in my head the whole time as my mom, who is not at all fluent in English, laughs when she sees something stupid.
