an absolute masterclass in artistic direction. halfway through the movie, i found myself itching for elizabeth’s segments to be over, unable to watch the decay, the tense, desolate performance of demi moore. this discomfort was perfect- even as the audience, you want for the cheery, perky sue. the satire is strategically overdone, the sound is squirm-worthy. my film of the year. nobody does body horror like french women!!
