The movie does not trust that you are paying attention and attempts to force you to pay attention through the use of constant jump cuts. I'm seriously talking like, you cannot go more than 5 seconds without the camera cutting away to a different angle even in the most subdued scenes. The monkey isn't smart. I refuse to buy into the premise that the monkey is smart given how every 3rd scene has the monkey running Wiley Coyote style into a tunnel painted onto the side of a mountain. The highlight of the entire movie was a single match-cut to the Golden Gate Bridge about 15m in.
