This movie was much lighter than the last movie and I really enjoyed it. Hidden Figures was a really a lighthearted yet empowering movie about three extremely intelligent black women working for NASA in this sixties. Through their individual journeys, this film highlights the importance of acknowledging the intersecting identities that shape individuals' experiences and opportunities. This film did an incredible job depicting bias in the justice system and the manipulation of the justice system. A young black Harvard law graduate named Bryan Stevenson worked with death row inmates in Alabama and realizes that there is a great miscarriage of justice and that a lot of these inmates were falsely convicted and didn’t deserve to be on death row. Selma was a powerful movement about Martin Luther King’s experience leading the civil rights movement post “I Have a Dream” speech, along with the events before and after the march in Selma.
