  Feels like The Dreamers wanted to tell me something but forgot what it was. That is if it knew in the first place.

  Maybe I'm just too dumb to get it but everything felt so empty. Empty politics, empty poetics, empty transgressions.

  Really wanted to like this film but it just didn't land...

  Was really excited to watch this after having read the Traumnovelle but Kubrick's adaptation was quite the letdown. The film is pretty faithful to the original (apart from changing the setting to contemporary New York) but barely ever manages to fully convey the looming threat of subconscious desire, paranoia and excitement throwing Fridolin/Bill into a downward spiral. These themes are not absent in Eyes Wide Shut, but are never quite brought to life either, only scratching the surface. It just left…
