    The Gorge

Man, the first half was pretty good—a unique two-hander where the characters spark a romance while seemingly confronting their personal demons as they guard the gates of Hell. But then, they wasted that potential as the second half became generic AF—no stakes, frustratingly apolitical while pretending to be political. It works as a decent survival thriller, but that’s about it. Anya Taylor-Joy is great, though (when has she not been!).

Anyway, I’d recommend 'Annihilation' and 'Die Alone'—both share some similarities with 'The Gorge', but unlike the latter, they’re thematically rich and beautifully crafted.

"This Closeness" is an honest and relatable exploration of human behavior, loneliness, relationships, and intimacy. Set in a single location, this character-driven story grips you from the very start. While its true purpose might not be immediately evident, as the narrative unfolds, its intentions become clear. When it strikes the final chord and reveals its true depth, the entire experience becomes richer, leaving you with a profound appreciation for its magnificence.
Kit Zauhar, you are a gem.

Is it the biggest case of cultural appropriation in the 21st century? Also, Yes.
Pushing Islamic/Arab influences aside for cultural appropriation and lack of Muslim/MENA representation overshadows the films' craft and stellar performances, at least for me.
The handling of the political and religious themes is commendable, but it's…

Very impressed with Billie Melissa's first short film. She directed the film with confidence, bringing her vision to fruition in less than 15 minutes.
