  i hadn't seen this since i was about 12 or 13... i must've been just about kiki's age! i loved it then, and i love it now. it's beautiful, it's moving, it's generous and deeply nourishing. it's overflowing truth.

  very few things manage to capture the scope of children's imagination in its messy contradictory entirety. this does so effortlessly! funny and sweet, skittering and deliberate, silly and profound. each passing thought fluttering by like a dandelion fluff on the wind. and the unpolished and pure animation perfectly matches the ebb and flow of it all. a joy to watch, and it touched my heart ♡

  this film has such a feverish impassioned sincerity that it left me thoroughly rattled afterwards. i'm still not entirely sure what to make of it to be honest! extremely uncomfortable but there's so many unforgettable images in this, visions of true and total emotion unlike anything i've seen. will be thinking about this one for a long time
