Great fun. James McAvoy is fantastic as the particularly English type of alpha/psycho that we all know. But his character takes it a wee bit further.

As route one as it gets, could literally feel the script being passed back and forth with extra beats being added - new reasons  to slow down Gerti achieving her goal.  Very Disney, but good fun nonetheless.

As beautiful as it looked, this didn’t work for me. Didn’t pack any punches, or feel sinister, despite the evil rituals. The sound design was strangely minimal which didn’t help. I didn’t care for any of the characters until the final shot. The annoying American tourists weren’t really annoying enough for me to care when bad things began (apart from Mark but that was more about the miscasting).

Oh man, what a disappointment. The fights and battle scenes (and Denzil) aside this was a giant mess. It was hard to care for any of the characters, there was very little in the way of character development so the choices they made seemed to come out of nowhere. The dialogue was incredibly dry and there was real panto acting from the English contingent especially the Ed Sheeran emperors.
