  ok i loved this as a teen partially for bender but also for the era of 80s teen movies where class background breadth is shown and not in the redemptive 2000s way that a kid will do good cos of the love and hope of their low income parents....but with the violence or struggle or alcoholism etc etc of that situation being explored... its a little on the nose here but </3

  laughed out loud at the accordion singing on the plane, actually perfectly balances the tone and saves a darkness w humour that allows the ending to land very tenderly

  I was so ready to watch this film...dreamed for months for it, so it was hard for the buttoned feelings to fulfil the idea of the huge stage curtain and my imagined desparation of judy and her internally torn son. There was no tear at all or struggle between the weight the emotions could have felt. Dirk is cute but unreasonably cold set to falter so when he does its minimal movement. Theres no breaking of a branch!!!
