My Own Private Idaho 1991
A beautiful film, truly. The bleary dream-like nature of the narrative's structure makes the story feel more personal, like a recollection of events rather than a documentation of them.
River Pheonix's performance is brilliant, and the campfire scene was very moving for me. I also loved Keanu Reeves' performance, especially the way his character (Scott) physically interacted with Pheonix's (Mike). My favourite examples would be the campfire scene and the pair's time in Portland in the first section of the film.
I will be thinking about this film for a while.

As someone who read the original one-shot, watching this felt like experiencing it for the first time all over again.
The animation translated the one-shot's style brilliantly, and the colours throughout the movie were so well selected. I especially loved how the skipping scene and the ending were handled.

The Power of the Dog 2021
I enjoyed this on my initial watch but I read the book about 2 months (?) after and I think it doesn't capture me the same way the book does. For what it is worth translating prose into screenplay into movie is no small task but I think if you like this movie you'll find its source material to have more character and interest i suppose :)
