Cannon Fodder is probably the greatest feat of cel animation photography ever achieved? A dizzyingly complex 20 minute long take through an elaborate, populated fictional dystopian world, all using pre-digital techniques.
Mind-blowing, and yet not even the best segment in this film.

More than possibly anything else I've ever seen, this feels like every decision was made to be as profitable as possible. That makes sense of course, its not like they made a Mario movie because they thought there was a compelling story or characters, this is a product first before it is art.
