I sat with this review for a long time. This film had it shorts comings (AI, etc), but I gave it a 5 stars cause this film was an EXPERIENCE.
4 hours at the movies and every single minute counted. Haven’t had that experience in a while. Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Guy Pearce were so phenomenal, wow.
Cornfield chase in IMAX made me cry. It was too beautiful. The amount of people that came out for a re-release confirms this is destined to be a timeless classic.
“Listen to me when I say that love isn’t something we invented, it’s observable and powerful, it has to mean something…maybe it means something more, something we can’t yet understand. Maybe it’s some evidence, some artifact of a higher dimension that we can’t consciously perceive. Love is the one thing we’re capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space.”
I was captivated every single minute of the 3 hours and 26 minutes runtime. Every frame and every line of dialogue was absolutely needed.
Scorsese has delivered again—which is expected. Lily Gladstone is the true standout!
